Classroom Guide at Vita Prep Academy

Location: Vita Prep Academy, 3815 Curtis Blvd Cocoa, FL

Salary: $54,000 per year

Employment Type: Full-Time

Our mission is to equip kids with the skills they need to lead fulfilling lives, focusing on student-led learning and contextual, project-based education that leverages their interests.

We are seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Classroom Guides (what we call our teachers). As a Classroom Guide, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our students by fostering an environment of curiosity, creativity, and self-directed learning. Our innovative approach to education emphasizes student-led exploration, personalized learning, and the development of essential life skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Student-Led Learning: Encourage and support students as they take ownership of their learning journey, helping them to explore their interests and master new skills at their own pace.
  • Create Engaging Learning Experiences: Design and implement dynamic, hands-on lessons and projects that align with our educational philosophy and meet the diverse needs of our students.
  • Provide Individualized Support: Offer personalized guidance and support to students, helping them overcome challenges and celebrate successes.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Work closely with fellow Guides to share ideas, develop new strategies, and create a cohesive learning environment.
  • Foster a Positive Classroom Environment: Build a classroom culture that promotes respect, responsibility, and a love of learning.
  • Engage with Families: Maintain open communication with families, keeping them informed of their child’s progress and involving them in the learning process.
  • Participate in Professional Development: Continuously seek out opportunities for growth and development to stay at the forefront of educational best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Special skills, knowledge, or expertise that qualifies you to provide instruction in K-6th grade subjects OR 3 years of teaching experience OR a bachelor’s degree in education, child psychology, or related field. ESE, OT, PT, Speech, or other certifications are a plus!
  • Passion for Education: A deep commitment to nurturing the unique potential of each student and a belief in the power of student-led learning.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a dynamic, evolving educational environment and willingness to embrace new approaches and ideas.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Creativity: A creative mindset and the ability to design engaging, hands-on learning experiences.
